Waste Disposal
The City of Wakefield contracts with Gill Hauling out of Jackson for all residential garbage pick-up. A garbage tote of either 90 gallon or 30 gallon (senior rate) will be provided to each residence.
- An extra tote can be requested for a fee of $1.75 per month
- Weekly garbage pick-up is on Wednesday
Procedures
- Only garbage that will fit in the tote will be picked up by the hauler
- Garbage totes need to be placed at the curb the night before pickup with the lid opening to the street
- All totes should be set at the curb four feet away from other totes or parked cars.
- Curbside recycling totes will also be picked up on Wednesdays
- Please place green recycling tote or pink tote next to your garbage for pick-up
- Recycling totes will not be picked up if glass or other trash has been placed in the tote
Yard Waste, Trees & Brush
All yard waste, trees and brush can be disposed of behind the City Shop at 303 Oak Street in the appropriate area. No garbage, masonry, or lumber please. The piles are available at any time for your convenience unless abused. Please empty all plastic bags of grass and leaves.
